⚽ GFR Pre-Travel Academy (PTA): Building the Foundation for Future Travel Players

Led by experienced Travel-level coaches, GFR’s Pre-Travel Academy (PTA) is a year-round development program (Fall & Spring) tailored specifically for U8 players eager to elevate their game.

The PTA is designed to bridge the gap between recreational play and competitive Travel soccer. By simulating real game scenarios in 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 formats, players are placed in an environment that promotes more touches, faster decision-making, and skill development. Our approach focuses on mastering fundamentals, building confidence, and fostering a true love for the game — all under the guidance of professional, age-appropriate coaching in a fun, challenging setting.

🔑 Program Goals:

Sharpen individual footskills
Enhance 1v1 attacking and defending
Build decision-making: when to dribble vs. pass
Encourage passion and enthusiasm for the game

Commitment

2 training sessions per week
Weekend matches against other clubs during the fall and spring seasons

This flexible and development-focused program is the perfect first step toward competitive Travel soccer.

*HOW IT WORKS*

Register for FREE Tryouts

Parents must complete the free registration to sign up for tryouts, which will take place in May 2026.

Attend a Tryout

All players who wish to be considered for the PTA program must attend at least one tryout session. This is essential for coaches to evaluate player readiness and fit for the program.

Selection & Invitation

Following tryouts, selected players will receive an official invitation to join the program along with instructions for fee payment.

Program Duration

The PTA program runs through Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.

Spring-Only Option

Players who wish to join starting in Spring must attend a February tryout. If accepted, they will pay a prorated Spring-only fee.
