GFR FUTSAL FAQS

  • What is Futsal?

    Futsal is a fast-paced, five-a-side indoor soccer variant played on a hard court without walls, emphasizing technical skill, quick passing, and ball control. Developed in South America, it uses a smaller, low-bounce ball and is governed by FIFA. Many world-class players like Pelé and Messi developed their skills playing futsal in their youth. 

  • When does the GFR Futsal season start?

    Practices will start on Wednesday, December 5.  The season consists of approximately 6-8 games in December, January and February (only the HS age groups potentially will start in December).  

  • How are teams selected and will there be tryouts?

    Teams will be selected by our Futsal coaches. GFR players do not have to try out.  Players outside of GFR should reach out to our GFR Club Admin at clubadministrator@gfrsoccerclub.org to set up a tryout date.

  • How many players will be selected for each GFR Futsal team?

    Futsal teams will consist of approximately 7-12 players.

    Practice times will be after 1 pm on Saturdays and between 9 am- 6 pm on Sundays.  Practice schedules will be confirmed by November 25.

  • What uniforms will the futsal teams use?

    GFR Travel uniforms will be worn for the GFR Super Y League. Existing GFR players will wear current GFR kits. Non-GFR players will need to purchase a GFR kit (1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of socks, and two game jerseys) at an additional cost of approximately $175 per player.  Orders will be placed with Sterling Soccer.

  • How much does the GFR Futsal League cost?

    The fee can be paid in full upfront or made in 2 or 3 installments. The first payment is due upon acceptance/enrollment. Registration fees are non-refundable.
